Babies and Wine.....not combined.

Quick update.....as Linds was reading my last post, she said, "I don't think I've had any water since it broke." Silly girl! :)

This weekend has been a good one.....minus the K-State loss. I have gotten to spend lots of time with some people I really enjoy, including lunch with one of my BFFs, Lacey, today.

There has been a little baby boom lately from my bunko group. Lisa had baby Liam on Thursday and I went to meet him Friday after work (she delivered in the hospital where I work). I didn't get to hold him cause he was having a little procedure, but saw him through a wind0w- super cute! Friday night Linds and I stopped by my friend Andrea's and met baby Harper. She is such a sweet baby....long and lanky and SO alert! We felt like she was really trying to talk to us! Harper's big brother was there and pretty excited to show his mom stuff from school.

After meeting Harper, we went to our friend Lindsey's apartment for a little wine tasting with Lindsey and Sarah. We each brought a bottle, she had some snacks put together and we just hung out and talked. Aren't those nights some of the best ones?! Hope your weekend has been a good one too. I'm looking forward to the Oscars tonight! Love all the fancy outfits and seeing who wins.

Weekend in Wichita...

This fall went by so quickly and between working some weekends and K-State games, I hadn't been able to get down to visit my friends in Wichita, so I was really excited to go see some friends there! I have four friends there that have had babies since I moved (well, five including a puppy) and I was really lucky to see all of them, plus two older siblings.

Friday night the grown-ups hit the town and went bowling- something none of us have done for quite a while! What fun we had! Here are a few pictures from our adventure:

Saturday I got to spend quite a bit of time with my college roomies, plus Kylie and Katie's kids and Lindsay's new puppy. They are all really good kids and so cute! They change so much whenever I see them and it's hard to believe how old they are getting. We also got to do some shopping (mildly insane on the weekend before Christmas, but I can now say I am done!).

Saturday afternoon I met up with two friends, Jenna and Libby, that are speech pathologists I worked with when I lived in Wichita. They each brought their daughters and we got caught up over lunch. They are really sweet babies and I am glad I got to see them!

This morning I picked up my friend Dan and we went to breakfast. He was my patient 2 years ago and we have kept in touch since he has returned to his home. Dan is such a genuine person and has become like a grandparent to me. I enjoy the time we get to spend together, as I know it won't last forever. He does really well, but will be 90 this winter.
Thanks for a great weekend in Wichita! Until next time....

Adios, congrats and a sweet baby...

This past weekend I went to Kansas City with a two-fold purpose: for a going-away party for my friend Teresa and to go to a bridal shower for a former co-worker. I got the bonus perk of getting to stay with my friends Julie and Aaron and seeing their little baby Brooke; she is SO cute! My friend Teresa is moving back to her hometown in north central Kansas and some friends had a party to wish her well. Here are some pictures from the party and a few of sweet little Brooke who is just now 3 months old. No pictures from the shower, but it was really nice to see some many friends with such a quick trip!

Meeting of the babes...

The weekend before last, my college roomies (minus Katie) came to visit me in Topeka and see my new house. Katie was about two weeks out from having baby Grace and not too feasible to expect her to sit in a car for 2 hours each way. Anyway, Lindsay and Kylie came up from Wichita with Kylie's baby Graham. Kylie's husband Brady came through on his wasy from KC to Wichita. My parents came over from across town. Julie and her husband Aaron, Julie's mom all came from KC with baby Brooke, who was born the end of May and hadn't yet met our Wichita friends, including her potential future husband Graham. Anyway, it was super nice of everyone to make the day trip and great to see each other, and to see Graham and Brooke get to play. We had some Glory Days pizza, a local favorite and a chocolate silk pie. Good treats with good friends! Thanks again guys!! :)

My friends have the cutest babies.....not that I'm biased.

A couple weeks ago, I took off work Wednesday and Tuesday headed to Wichita to see some of my very favorite people....and the very cute little babies that they have. That Tuesday was the monthly bunko night that I played in when I lived there, so it was a good way to see a bunch of the girls at one time. While I was in town, I also got to meet two of the newest additions, Lily and Grace. Here are a few pictures from my trip:
My friend Lindsay with our friend Kylie's daughter Lilah with her new birthday crown and necklace I gave her. Pretty stinkin' cute. She turned 2 in May and is now one of the "big kids".

Lilah's baby brother Graham, who is now 5 months...

My friend Libby's baby Madeline....she was born at the end of April and Libby brought her to bunko so we could all see her...

Grace's big brother Caden, who is 18 months and super cute as well.

This is me with Lily Elyse, who was born June 2nd....I worked with her mom Jenna when I first moved to Wichita.

Visit to KC....

This weekend I went to Kansas City for a continuing education course Saturday morning for speech pathologists and got to see some friends while I was in town. Friday night I stayed with my friend from grad school Teresa and we went to one of my very favorite restaurants. It's called Oklahoma Joe's Barbeque and it is awesome. It is located near KU Med Center and I first learned of it from friends when I was in school there. It's actually ran out of a gas station and based off the experiences I have had there, I am not the only person that loves it. When we got there, the line was out the door and I would guess there were 50-60 people in line; and it stayed that way until we left after dinner. So good! I would highly recommend it for some good BBQ in KC!!
My "Smokie Joe" and seasoned fries. Mmm!

After dinner Friday, Teresa and I went to meet up with some other friends from grad school and it was really good to get caught up!

My former roommates Danielle and Leah.

After my class Saturday, I got to go meet Brooke Evelyn, my friends Julie and Aaron's little girl. She is two weeks old and such a sweetie. I lucked out and she was awake for most of my visit and didn't cry much at all. It was good to see her parents; they are definitely in love with her and so proud, as they should be! I can't wait to see them again!! :)

Memorial Day Weekend in Wichita...

I hope everyone has a wonderful Memorial Day! I will be celebrating by working...can't complain too much; we'll get holiday pay. This weekend I made a quick trip to Wichita to see friends and go to a baby shower for Jenna, who I worked with when I first moved to Wichita. I drove back after the shower so I could work today, but it was a really good quick trip. The main theme of the weekend was BABIES!

Friday, we just hung out at my friends Kylie and Brady's house. I had my first "spaghetti pie" experience. Very tasty! I also had my first Fresca....how did I not know how tasty it is?!?! No calories....mmm....nice. It was good to see some friends and also get to see Kylie's cute kids! Lilah is spirited (which I love) and her new baby brother Graham is laid back and so sweet.
Kylie's cuties....
Had to capture Graham and Auntie Linds...both sporting white and green stripes. :)
Kylie and Mr. Graham hanging out...

Yesterday was a busy day (in a good way) and I got to see some more friends in Wichita. My friend Lindsay started a "Breakfast Club" since she likes breakfast and the movie "The Breakfast Club". I have yet to see the movie, but they let me eat with them anyway. We ate at "Egg Crate Cafe" for you local Wichitans....very tasty!
After breakfast....Lynnette, Molly with baby Elena at 8 months, Lindsay, me and Lyndsey.

I got my hair cut and then went to the baby shower for Jenna. The other speech therapist that works with Jenna is Libby. She had a little girl Madeline the end of April and I got to hold her during a lot of the shower. What a sweet baby! Jenna is due in July and they had a really nice shower for her.....I can't wait to meet baby Lily too! :)

The quilt I gave to Madeline...I don't think I took one of the one I gave to Jenna and Lily. I will have to get one. It's brown with dark pinks...
