I brought in the new year with my boyfriend, Colin, along with his best friend and his girlfriend. Low-key evening at home.....cooked dinner and played games. It was quite a change from last year's Power & Light party, but it was good.
(Can't get my picture upload to work or I would post a few). :(
As so many do, I feel reflective and inspired as we embark on the upcoming calendar year. 2012 was a good one for me. I met Colin, traveled, continued growing friendships that I've had, spent lots of time with my family and had an EPIC fail with my "30 Diet Cokes in my 30th Year". Oops. I did great until July when it went completely down the drain. I'm working on moderation....aren't we all?
No big resolutions this year....as I sit on the couch with Colin and Stella (the pup), life feels pretty satisfying. My heart feels content and with that, I hope to continue to use my brain to be creative and kind, my body to be healthier and strong (maybe run a few 5K's this year) and for me to get booked up less (aka, more unstructured time).
I do feel so grateful for everything in my life and also want to continue to improve, both professionally and in my personal life. Can't wait to see what 2013 brings! Wishing all of my friends and family only health and happiness. :)http://www.blogger.com/profile/08052740939805411673noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-367201889881347709.post-34176449971070437212012-08-25T17:59:00.001-05:002012-08-25T18:13:56.862-05:00Update on Life....Well, I haven't posted since March! What the heck????? I do actually think about it and want to document events and happenings so I can look back on it, but I am a distractable and busy soul. I feel like the last few months have been full!
Notably, my last post was about my roommate of 6 months Lindsay moving out. It seems like forever ago! Linds and I still see a lot of each other and I'm so glad that she's only about 5 minutes away. Linds LOVES being back under the same roof as her baby (my niece) Kya. She has made her little house SO cute and she has been very busy training for an upcoming marathon in October. So very proud of her.
I have done quite a bit of work around my house, including staining my deck, painting my metal outdoor chairs, fixed my tile in my upstairs bathroom after a leak, had my kitchen ceiling fixed from said leak, painted my kitchen and got new lights in my kitchen and little breakfast nook. Also, last weekend I FINALLY set up a recycling center in my house. I know, seriously, about time.
Besides that, I went to Arizona with two of my best friends in May to celebrate all of us turning 30 this year. We had a lot of fun enjoying sun and fun together. In June, my parents and I flew to Dallas for Fathers Day weekend and saw my sis. In July, my parents and I few to Chicago and met my sis to celebrate my mom's 61st birthday. We had an awesome few days of sightseeing, good foods and time togehter. Just last weekend, Linds and I drove to the Lake of the Ozarks and met up with our college roommates Julie and Kylie and spent time with their families. Very nice. Loved the relaxing setting and all the cute kids running around.
Outside of house updates and traveling, I have spent quite a bit of time with my boyfriend of 6 months and his sweet puppy dog, Stella. I have also had her stay at my house when he's been out of town.
Know that I do still LOVE reading all of your blog posts and hearing what is going on in your lives. Cute kids, lots of pictures from traveling and just daily stories...can't go wrong there. Even though I haven't posted recently I have had some new tech happenings....I got a gmail account to replace my AOL account that I've had since I was 14. Who would have ever guessed?! Also, I set up a google calendar which I'm loving. :) Yep, I know, exciting stuff.
Hope to post again sooner than later. I'm looking into a new laptop as mine is end of life. Fingers crossed. :):)http://www.blogger.com/profile/08052740939805411673noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-367201889881347709.post-64660996504677970282012-03-25T17:51:00.000-05:002012-03-25T17:51:15.847-05:00All by myseeeeeelf.....After having a roomie for 6 months, I am back on my own again..... <br />

We have spent a TON of time working on getting her little house fixed up and it looks so good. I can't wait to see how Lindsay makes it her own. I know one thing for sure, is that she is SO excited to be reunited with her pup, Kya. Thankfully, her new house is about 4.5 minutes away from mine, so I'm betting I'll still get to see her! :) </div><div align="left" class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

Silly girl! :)<br /><br />This weekend has been a good one.....minus the K-State loss. I have gotten to spend lots of time with some people I really enjoy, including lunch with one of my BFFs, Lacey, today.<br /><br />There has been a little baby boom lately from my bunko group. Lisa had baby Liam on Thursday and I went to meet him Friday after work (she delivered in the hospital where I work). I didn't get to hold him cause he was having a little procedure, but saw him through a wind0w- super cute! Friday night Linds and I stopped by my friend Andrea's and met baby Harper. She is such a sweet baby....long and lanky and SO alert! We felt like she was really trying to talk to us! Harper's big brother was there and pretty excited to show his mom stuff from school.<br /><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 240px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5713601372669276658" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiBpZuV5HbCx_ohin9fX01irRj5sTOADbI_XI0EgPY6hRhzy2tQIh4itJJM3hnySyFEYPWbZ4G01xSBocSnK3UBEETbui8m8CQlHVqzifJzNxc0bwm1ebuKMxvGbGYyE625d0MSDf2ObBSw/s320/003.JPG" /><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 240px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5713601008023468114" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh5dpPwDXdiPQW1QxaPxQlM9Y8HqsOqjf4tfU4kvd92FRZSE-37TMw5Iud1mH_Kc_73EAOJ3KhWb6L7fLGt090ncNKLB5E7lHPROUxO0aJJ4WdTq3HpIZ8uZeF5WFiR22G7Q3GyMwJF-uk1/s320/006.JPG" /><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 240px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5713600814989256770" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh1oR-sCyfqBgcWbxE_V56sf6Chjsaf1jaUWoDouVuCc5zHY_ZUAaWunYnmbafPwszNaxgtVNMwnR9w3WZSrs7ffUU9uRNltg6t8wsXPNJw0-3ymOFr2XLQw8adeYAiBG5tzZNv4Od5bSEG/s320/007.JPG" /><br />After meeting Harper, we went to our friend Lindsey's apartment for a little wine tasting with Lindsey and Sarah. We each brought a bottle, she had some snacks put together and we just hung out and talked. Aren't those nights some of the best ones?! Hope your weekend has been a good one too. I'm looking forward to the Oscars tonight! Love all the fancy outfits and seeing who wins.<img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 240px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5713600376276351266" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjWAObk_djSYjeMthzWCiT4dWIO4Bjt2e1SwFUT-jZQzJdEzK9wqI5nuCeEJcI4QEb9ZOeABghMqr6S4q9YL11absk-krzseoBKYTltccBqHplUbGU9og7xetXmgC9rG3XezKF1TBWyUrQh/s320/008.JPG" /><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 240px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5713599846900470002" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh4JIS0nNXf2JQYFwaaVTU5xLbQatpk4_LKeuLX1zhOYxn5apdTek4FTjNB2LYC1lfgmKBBDMw21tauCYCXYqMpkpjS3rECYzOduRHUgM5Brc9OdVrlKlqYmsIsgM_vyRiVbdPmt_E1BTK5/s320/010.JPG" /></div></div></div>:)http://www.blogger.com/profile/08052740939805411673noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-367201889881347709.post-91452587200801538262012-02-25T10:44:00.002-06:002012-02-25T10:56:16.039-06:00There's Been An Accident! :(This is what happened at my house this week:<br /><br /><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 240px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5713116098029541250" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgqSpn8E5Xx-yLJ0_T4p5Dp4D4XIb9yvk01-Her_XLdsqLzpKrbPqsI7WeEJ_mng_dFZM5zAictnoT3QDBG9MGIt3c5divoLQLZAXcycC8Re1EyYIoWvX3_Ba4W0LBc9IV3wqE-BNQhBYab/s320/001.JPG" /><br />Linds was devastated. This is the glass she used pretty much every day....yes, it's a Grumpy Care Bears glass my mom gave me a couple years ago. She gave it to me as a joke (kind of) since I loved Care Bears when I was little and since I can sometimes be grumpy. Well, Linds has become pretty attached and the other night when I was loading the dishes, it just fell apart! Not sure what Linds will drink out of now, but it was a pretty sad scene. Guess I'm not allowed to load the dishwasher anymore, huh Linds?:)http://www.blogger.com/profile/08052740939805411673noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-367201889881347709.post-5591585598603393872012-02-22T19:28:00.002-06:002012-02-22T19:35:36.422-06:00Happy Ash Wednesday!.....which according to facebook is apparently also National Margarita Day. Seems like that would have been more appropriate on Mardi Gras. Anyway, I have been struggling with what to give up during Lent (no, I'm not Catholic, but I think it's a great practice). Two years ago I gave up Diet Coke. At the time, I thought I was going to die....but I didn't. Turns out, I am pretty much off of it as is, thanks to my New Years resolution this year. Last year, I gave up sweets, which was good for me. My friend Sharee and I (and whoever else) have decided that we're going to volunteer once a week at Harvesters (a local food pantry that gives backpacks of food to kids that need it for the weekend). I'm looking forward to it and it's something I've been wanting to do anyway. I also decided that I'm going to STOP BITING MY NAILS! Like, for real. I NEED to. It's SO gross and something that I really want to stop....so hopefully not doing it for 40 days will help me to quit the habit. Hopefully your Lent is a time of reflection and thanks....and less nail biting. ;):)http://www.blogger.com/profile/08052740939805411673noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-367201889881347709.post-62683135905963722732012-02-19T10:26:00.014-06:002012-02-19T10:47:39.987-06:00Crafternoon, Trader Joe's Pizza and Game NightMy aunt and uncle were in town this weekend visiting and we had a good time keeping busy. Yesterday, I had a crafternoon with my aunt and cousin. Jenn got inspired by Pinterest and made some cute stuff.<br /><br />She painted the inside of these vases....turned out great!<br /><br /><br /><div><br /><div><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 240px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5710888661898179874" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj1Q2BOV3pjzl4qigDygDzvuQZczYlf-R0y2pGdH66tCswmWwBIXwKAAkbK1-x78n12Id9gA9CGF4kuKcLAipuSGmcU8wnXpNM-3gq4FrFapixzYmrwBWnemMFbOa7eoAp4Ey-cCUa0kLgk/s320/001.JPG" /><br />She made these coasters out of tile from Home Depot, scrapbook paper and homemade modge podge (Elmer's glue and water).....</div><br /><div><br /></div><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 240px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5710888542830816162" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiygoKHi0Las4B8b6e-rCLslaSHPCMCcakJjv5dJJeIaxVi_bOG6AyYvTSYpaIHrBVmiMEqyza0IBOWQvwGeGLHOm2dIQjuZhbQjcPMv7piEwmIRafgsGXr9lLyRzZpPdkVlGRj39wUk9IW/s320/002.JPG" /><br /><br /><div></div>I made this fabric garland for a yet-to-happen party at my house....</div><br /><div><br /><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 240px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5710888395860692290" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEioyfpnvxOm3BNCqlg-H6emeDhuFHFlawpzaB90I9aDjvDRdscdDRNQK63sNjR2LEEHV54G7HqCw1qrFX-OICjT3lHOr9YaqxYvJorsnrj7bPMHtLjXTi5MvjKZ99tOfGGhqCqwDjLnaoz0/s320/003.JPG" /><br /><br /><div>Last night, Jenn and her boyfriend made us homemade pizzas with Trader Joe's crust. A boardgame that NO ONE will play with me, except my uncle (thank you!) because he likes a challenge and is competitive like me AND because he actually won one of the two games last night. From there, he brought out a card game that is similar to Skipbo, but I didn't play so too tough to explain. Anyway, a lot of fun! <br /><div><br /><div><br /><div><br /><div><br /><div><br /><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 240px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5710886784605611746" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiBqJgQcStUEz8awCEDBe4EJXrlDwLiNC-uc6pJ3Yio2WOj4zJWbhE8BuJYj1Z4542ETJ8iv5MO6pZ5G3LFfrsJObYT8Vx7p-8r8pKZblGqumCfZ6dOBdz-w31T3VNaujpWdt30SrgYJ_vg/s320/012.JPG" /><br /><br /><br /><div><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 240px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5710885861736843570" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi-Hpmhkj4NP0VE4W0mHGaMuyF1okuZI_rNiYl_5AAn8ClLDygCpZcvt_pTV13_IkOrWrHnfhXNYvQBASP4sJ8VT7Ocl2w3qBQuv4sS9Xwcddes3IcmMFGypq2UVJqaAjEalC97WZMTxTXx/s320/014.JPG" /><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 240px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5710885133060415810" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgk0MODInPb-txN6sapVd25BuyElrw-Lv8iR3aPrW76ADDDjTijy-Hs36H4TbpSn7TvGUPWA2k00JvdAHcbo9rO99PtJpve7LFt9nxvBDVJjanbQX7c26P3F3Vtqe51MgEarVqHOVwHgFE4/s320/015.JPG" /></div></div></div></div></div>Mom and I looked at Pinterest on her phone while the card game was in full swing!</div></div></div>:)http://www.blogger.com/profile/08052740939805411673noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-367201889881347709.post-57865125776429571552012-02-17T17:53:00.003-06:002012-02-17T18:06:09.736-06:00PrivilegedI hear that word most of the time and think of someone who is entitled and spoiled and lucky. Today I had a sense of feeling privileged in a whole other way....I had a moment today realizing how incredibly blessed I am to work in the career that I do. How privileged am I to be able to help people when they need it and be a part of their life. A patient I have seen over the course of the last few months as he has been in and out of ICU, went on hospice today. I saw his wife going into the ICU and knowing what had happened, I told her I was sorry to hear things had gotten rougher and I would be thinking of them. She is one of the most loyal, devoted spouses I have ever seen...she has literally been by his side every day....for months. Knowing that her husband isn't probably going to live much longer and she will most likely leave the hospital without him, she gracefully said to me, "Thank you for all you have done. How great is our God?" How she is able to find some peace in the midst of the sadness she is going through is so inspiring. The faith she must have in the higher power that she is able to see outside of it and say thank you. I just don't want to forget the privilege I am allowed to be included in people's lives at some of their toughest times and every day I am thankful. If I can make that a little less tough and scary for one person, then it's a good day. So very privileged.:)http://www.blogger.com/profile/08052740939805411673noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-367201889881347709.post-5329770049123648502012-02-17T17:24:00.019-06:002012-02-17T17:48:48.150-06:00K-State vs. KU PartyWell, the basketball game turned out to be a disappointment (IMHO) but my parents were kind to have me and a couple friends, plus my cousin and her boyfriend over to watch the game. We had a good time, and lots of good food, despite the loss. Until the next game....<br /><br /><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 240px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5710255096498642978" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiepGTN6eEsslg1H5Y4JILVhrU9wcD-GUJdPtzTffevw3aWKID1v5yYeCz3bxlVWKlwHeg7TO-Hld2WP65sFrRWRxt-q_JsvuXUJRN5xMk83XxqjonVVIr3exRJA-B2PCW1YutIvEHKVAzN/s320/001.JPG" /><br /><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 240px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 320px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5710254975729952546" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh6xvZ4I3ojRFLYkSXazInQrdoUjnhDSUvgRCWFO1rEgsts2ygQlPUqBym4OUMe6azuAU8ifnyLtSdtjUKLpvFokU2a2agoriw6EEoFOUJVDrPUAq3fzmbISx2PSzVpDw9GIeRp0F1yOJ3S/s320/002.JPG" /><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 240px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5710254742735216498" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhku3ZtYyqz4WV6z_f-lbL0pvPRmJqv-e0hRDowPirYSwT3Iav2O22NCJKogd-Pyec2Re-vWQgGfbiFJREXtfvhWwfK4a2aB-iP0MiaPUBrg52RfwfpxuWXB2oI3k6jre_bmDGcllxDwn8V/s320/003.JPG" /><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 240px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 320px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5710254605816891970" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgQ05txzD_m1CyUILWlOpN7wS059L4KjZI_3PD28stlboi3ucK-U4GfUSZu4aEjXwhKBNfBCRBMPqtA0wD_t18Uhnlb4fN3N4F-yJNUwtmHBPn_MrhGvdz6USAPlgVCYFy2FLu3j_BYgVQL/s320/005.JPG" /><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 240px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5710254399003474946" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEip6cgPvkNRqUVhyphenhyphen__tVrNdorB-MfKVj7OtuRaPrTeKz3pF4cMtRFFnJZcHa5agXmA2-x6mXCqGBblUd_jz7qBw9yQRorh7Dlu-b4rfcC0HfJqlrL6BQd7x7GMdmPA8VXfNcrp3qLFoug0a/s320/007.JPG" /><br /><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 240px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5710254206797540258" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiUG2o7phsSMHW7ylY7FrBGaavfYrZETLsgGaEfffug1IwKH91an8votkN2hDX7Gz80j1ax5kYWlnoh1xp4xXx3MJvJMVfh_I9QDc9KftDbgSEWFO3e0Tlb4plGVqlq4jWQu2V0dPIvrhiJ/s320/009.JPG" /><br /><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 240px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5710253672291286498" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjHy5_CaSaEMjliaIsx4uPYlwmwaXCD4RhGIfrEXzAG5HegxobZPhhvdigxf903tQfC2O872D0c_jcAHUO_cCiuUM7eJyNcirWtUymfs-NPKIKludeHMfjSXIv2kM8hAl3QoBLetl22J-H4/s320/010.JPG" />Per the TV, Bill Self appears to have a mullet...<br /><br /><div><br /><div><br /><div><br /><div><br /><div><br /><div><br /><div><br /><div></div><br /><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 186px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5710250888120674226" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiwRwODzUKapxm5AyDA97HkNdTw42kIKfjUvUaCSSsb8QulSLrq7gTJFNOmp3qSuvQasl_a4jw8f8rb1g55y_wLfY_DpSSHh6laGe6ETkNi_7SQ0TXUdXa6Y09R41uWTwMYOdU-XKd1BoI0/s320/014-2.jpg" /><br /><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 240px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5710250603214943618" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh8_Y5-BUiPu5_3mWwa6IdF64dapUQQvG5yW-ia_6JtadLO5jgMl8aaN1RluTYSHS3hMQUrrb2Sd3-tJ4RChg-SpOHZyLYKD8Q1SjpjJwGB5wS3NejWtejz423UnMh0xh_3jrMdXfPpfy5z/s320/015.JPG" />Linds after a things took a turn for the worse....<br /><br /><div><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 240px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5710250355894448594" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi_nn6OepqIqtW-lOdznLe9vkUSBfF1mLfeh-tBazVVFXgi7G_VL_Q9kLJPZnBkzXg85Yv4U1HdzAfKEDvQ2cPjmQHn0viQdswDzCzTTEZExa8f5uERebk838IIUf3R1wM46UOV1ROyNIlc/s320/017.JPG" /></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div><br />Sad Peachy....:)http://www.blogger.com/profile/08052740939805411673noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-367201889881347709.post-58325831076421074132012-02-17T17:15:00.002-06:002012-02-17T17:22:50.074-06:00Payoff I suppose....Since I haven't been drinking Diet Coke (pretty much) this calendar year, I have hundreds of extra dollars! Mine was. I didn't think it would be, but it was.<br /></div><br /><div>My friend died in a car accident a year ago this date....what a day for a friend to die. I think about Tisharria frequently. Sometimes it makes me so sad and sometimes such good memories pop into my head and I'm glad to have them. It definitely seems surreal and I have spent a lot of the day thinking about T's husband and her family. Lots of prayers to my friend on this date. Miss you. </div><br /><div></div><br /><div>My day included some sweet cards from my Hetero-Life Partner, Linds, and from my parents too. My cousin baked up an AMAZING storm with the <a href="http://www.sixsistersstuff.com/2012/01/reeses-peanut-butter-cup-rice-krispies.html">Reese's Peanut Butter Cup Rice Krispie Treats</a> and heart-shaped <a href="http://ourshareoftheharvest.com/2011/02/21/dessert-buffet-red-velvet-cheesecake-bites/">Red Velvet Cheesecake Brownies </a>(seriously SO good!). Thanks Jenn!!</div><br /><div></div><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 240px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5709214603616647154" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi0r6zDkwt6Vmw5YCjfbsfYtoX2oXMaU48mR2LM3n967Fk4sr2-aHASq-13xbSrQBgm6PR4A3m2wrrDfiqz5YS_LWD2zCDTeCTFMTyMgxsEK4F5nvr7K542GFASpICvqUAQwLfr2ZRVZl7F/s320/025.JPG" /><br /><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 240px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5709214422750993218" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhhS1lG_9G0MdIKNdB-vBfOZN73o7-M9znr1x_fs4ZF8_MmRXMqilvvWzNmArpLOhaGNHDwotXKXHVeSvPcaIz-d95Ok8vIQD0EKabWYXWcs42qBDmWXkTZ9WKvlaTiVtIjq-vSb_oBVPu3/s320/026.JPG" /> <br /><div>So, how else did I spend my day? Goodcents. :) Thanks Mom! It was a really nice treat to see you and have some time together!<br /><br /><br /><div>Mom,<br /></div><br /><div>I cannot tell you how glad I am to have you in my life today. I know that Valentine's is typically for the romance, but I think it's also for any love and I have so much for you. You taught us how to love, always told us you loved us and I don't think I realized that some people don't grow up hearing that. We never had to doubt that you and Dad had so much love for me and Meg. I am so glad the last year is over for you (us). I mean, I knew I loved ya' and that you were awesome before 2011, but I don't think I really knew how much or what it would mean to not have you around. You plowed through the last year with such strength and courage and humor. I don't know that I would be able to handle it as gracefully. I am thankful that we're not back at Valentine's 2011 with so much unknown and scary stuff ahead of us. It seems like forever ago and just yesterday, all at the same time. </div><br /><br /><div>I am SO happy for you that you can stay up as late as you want and sleep in (who would have ever guessed?!) as you begin your retired life with Dad. I'm jealous that you can wear sweatpants all day and not leave the house if the weather is crummy. I'm glad you two haven't killed each other (yet) and even seem pretty happy in your little world. I love living close by, getting to see you often and how welcoming you are to my friends. It's really nice. You are such a good host and always wanting to teach me something and help make me better. I don't think I say thank you enough. I think it's great that you get so excited about Pinterest and I love how when we're together, people always say, "That's your Mom, isn't it?" cause we look so much alike (even though you don't think so). There's something comforting with the world being able to tell who you belong to. </div><br /><div><br />See, we even wore the same outfit today. :)<br /></div><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 240px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 320px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5709212576833079922" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjDHHGd0TaLqMBYsFtdRBp2Mjaxu7HlQSVkfUF2fWBdpuaS4ltadM7jPDM-tEZNkKUN9ItNzLCtE8a0glLQIf35FTIEBRcXLfJ4LlXGvVoIUjHsB2zKe0RKisi8lSj19WHCUzWjx6bDEiR3/s320/020.JPG" /><br /><br /><div>I look forward to many more holidays, celebrations, debates, laughs, discussions and most importantly, time, together. You are such a good Mom and worked so hard to give Meg and me everything. Hopefully some day we'll be able to return the favor and maybe even have kids we can teach all of those lessons to. We love you, and Bob too! :) Happy Valentine's Day!</div><br /><br /><div>Love,<br />Shell</div></div></div></div></div>:)http://www.blogger.com/profile/08052740939805411673noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-367201889881347709.post-70277487195823253232012-02-13T17:32:00.010-06:002012-02-13T18:06:38.907-06:00My view....This is my latest "thing" I've been doing. And by latest, I mean, since yesterday. <br /><div><br /><div><br /><div><br /><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 240px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5708775273852929602" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjTiHVLEWs6eaQvDQHoPIEpYq-oRqI_bVJGe4IZ_JopR2fFmWRW2gs4qQ0Raab4cLOprmfTE1Ceyys3kgH_Ojmtu4Uxz0M3UyJAad4noDsh0RE3gxV8ndOtD26flqpnywmNnk4-llKex9lG/s320/004.JPG" /><br /><br /><div>It started because when my family came over for dinner last night, I really wanted to play Whitney Houston music while we ate (yes, I'm serious). I happen to have "The Bodyguard" CD so I decided to upload it to my computer. (Sidenote: I not only happen to have it, but it was the first CD I ever owned.) Can you believe Whitney is gone? Linds commented that it seems unreal, much like Michael Jackson. Couldn't agree more. Yes, they both had some issues, but, such talent! Mom recalled at dinner last night that I spent my birthday slumber party in 5th grade belting out, "I Will Always Love you", a treat, I'm sure. </div><br /><br /><div>Anyway.......while I was looking for that CD, I found a whole bunch of other CDs that I felt like would be good to get on my computer and possibly Ipod. I (like many of you) discovered burning music my freshman year of college....the dates on the CDs are from like a month into my freshman year. Hmm, perhaps I should have been studying?? So, now I am going through these CDs and uploading them.</div><br /><br /><div>Was I going to go the gym after work today? Yes. Did I? No. But this is the view from my front door:<br /><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 240px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5708774819115178546" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhIGFIcvfY_NAUMaSuddAggKDfqCXKRjvoawiWruXLZk1TSocWX101OF8mx5msjTCiH-2zCbV_RdWHrOp8D-Z2fgN05qlq4zxyvCM6GB2eWkhyphenhyphenYxJO7kTQUl4ip_0cBxgHgdnbEM8o_Wtc2/s320/001.JPG" /></div><br /><br /><div>What is that white stuff?! It's been so long since it has snowed (not complaining!!) that I forgot what it was like. Tough to complain though...we have been so spoiled with great weather this year. Let's hope it doesn't change!</div><br /><br /><div>So instead of the gym, I'm doing this:</div><br /><br /><div><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 240px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 320px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5708774572716507874" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiSvebjMrdcbPMpJHDN1cs8KZNTsHf7-9qmly9abUrdTrdVl8n89rIAWyE2j4m-Oni11YffLAyVCOcSfJbuBFMzlqBtdbfr4d3G-oPAfPmHgb6DiJ3LcNYw7DfeCQii8BrIn-a8g5FIuCVo/s320/005.JPG" /> </div><br /><div>I forgot how much I love this electric blanket! Haven't used it this winter!</div><br /><br /><div>With big plans to read some more of this:</div></div><br /><br /><div><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 240px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5708774077495397426" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh40zJq83GV-8Cd-MbjFTh0G_XgvE3stRJ1hS7iJf70YKVdxOhCWDFO4YhRG6p9oqDH_qgh-2hCZki9R9qnbPAKajv7MhNrZroZSBPqYBXXj8Qg8aOIos8wv0LSuXEXfAeHi1dHTPe8sibW/s320/002.JPG" /></div><br /><br /><br /><br /><div><br /><br /><div>This book is SO funny! I was kinda cranky and feeling a teensy bit sorry for myself as I worked all weekend, but I am grateful for the work and the flexibility that comes with it. I'm feeling better now....just needed to relax for a few. I'm definitely not the best at unwinding. Gearing up though, as I'm looking forward to cheering on the Cats tonight against KU! Lots it seems like making me happy.<br /><br />Including, a trip with my friend Sarah to visit our friend Amanda in Denver. We thought we weren't gonna make it because of a blizzard there, but we did and we we had the best time! This is a picture of Sarah when we got back to KC and it made me laugh because somehow she ended up with 3 purses.....from here we went to Mi Ranchito- Sarah's first time there! Love it!<br /><br /><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 240px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 320px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5708465742693547426" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj72NDsvC7jQ9W1mT5P6kpFpgo5OQoefnAiTT99sfdtuDngCWWPCau9RJnm2BKiDpATMN5lD4EeXAGywSjLq48jRWSgYbpyjLU0Yaj92eq8a5baFT71zNuXJVdmOy1_xGfRGd3kSEh4aRFk/s320/135.JPG" /><br /><br />This is a really crummy picture but I couldn't get a good one...it's of the bracelet Sarah gave me (she got a 3-pack from our friend at work, Jenny). You keep one in the pack and give two others away.....it's from <a href="http://www.positivity.org/">www.positivity.org</a> and it says positivity on it. A reminder to be positive and have a good attitude! Sometimes I need it....I wear it to work a lot!<br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhRp5HtXegeeTTTQjNCzB0l9aMqvJzyybuDAbdvhHSpIOYyl3pTqJPljgGdWSmznJ1vcPDmwmOofDqUtt4Gz9NjDSgFhROZMImGRCjNoqTcsvmzW3nlprBiaZXK_gh9n_kyf9DNyfDkzyYm/s1600/006.JPG"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 240px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5708465566775608802" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhRp5HtXegeeTTTQjNCzB0l9aMqvJzyybuDAbdvhHSpIOYyl3pTqJPljgGdWSmznJ1vcPDmwmOofDqUtt4Gz9NjDSgFhROZMImGRCjNoqTcsvmzW3nlprBiaZXK_gh9n_kyf9DNyfDkzyYm/s320/006.JPG" /></a><br /><br /><br /><div>This is the new canvas art I got last week for my bathroom on my main floor. It makes me happy. The woman who makes them is a KU grad that works in Boston, but I bought it at a local store here. If you can't read it, in the lower left it says, "We must take every opportunity to make the most of this very remarkable life." Love it. </div><br /><div><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 257px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 320px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5708464990351659586" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgGpVFhUfjFSD4DdQZ7K_G_f-XD6F-14JMEySTdupdPKRV-d1yVk4HeIfgH9mW3wG8dd9DEu5WTlMPZGQFgOFQZtjO0VZSmnZw8MUcMpksu6-pyku5OfOMd21Pkq6uAZ8RBhqv4Sh04Mko3/s320/002.JPG" /><br />My mom tried a new recipe from Pinterest last night- a taco casserole bake. Well, it worked out that she's going to rent a house from my mom's friend. It's super cute and lots of potential, with a spare bedroom and a MASSIVE backyard for her dog to run all day. Added bonus is that it's close to my house! My mom's friend wasn't looking to become a landlord, so the house needs a little love, especially in the paint department. The fun part is that Lindsay got to pick out the colors herself (with a couple other friends' expert advice).<br /><br />So, today we finally got started after a couple of months discussion about this possibility. We painted the ceilings in both of the bedrooms and did some spackling. We took a radio over and one of the first songs to play was "The House That Built Me" by Miranda Lambert....not obviously a direct correlation, as Lindsay didn't grow up in this house, but if definitely resonated that this is a new chapter of her life that's opening up. She was brought here for a job, but I'm excited to see my friend find her spot here and feel more at home. I can't wait for the fun times that will happen for you in this sweet little house, Linds!!:)http://www.blogger.com/profile/08052740939805411673noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-367201889881347709.post-61851426247651400562012-01-18T21:10:00.008-06:002012-01-18T21:37:34.673-06:00GratefulAs I'm over a week into my 30s, I am really thankful for all of the love and celebration that has been aimed at me for my birthday! The weekend before my birthday, I made the trip to Dallas with my parents for the Cotton Bowl. We had a great time and got to spend lots of time with my sister. <br /><div><br /><div><br /></div><br /><div>My actual birthday started with my friend Linds decorating my living room with balloons and streamers.....what better start is there to a birthday?! After work, my birthday was capped off with my choice of Chipotle and my parents got me a Dairy Queen ice cream cake. Mmmm!</div><br /><div><br /></div><br /><div>Last weekend, I had quite a few friends show up to have a drink or two or.....for my birthday celebration. So thankful for everyone who came to hang out, especially my friends who decorated yummy cupcakes and cookies, and the ones who did decorations as well. Such a special day I'll fondly remember. </div><br /><div></div><br /><div><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 240px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5699181684351519794" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjwhTpRowHGP_eGT-SJQehdSH9kGPU6IseRqVtuq487kplZN8jqZccMks1Dus1pXOuLweYsbpDQcxDmH5hJG0GQ2nc3yQA3_ZklI0uy9uxT2xdZa5wsXlujLE15tcxtKOrJP_muHxBYYfSj/s320/002.JPG" /></div><br /><div>Adorable cookies my friend Kylie made....and they were tasty too!!</div><br /><div></div><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 246px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5699181453794525426" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh_bDRj9Su2xPlCoq_XTeoK7bn4kN3IyRm-xEashwMZufsMkcOIWwYR4KALGhI-nJTuqnHymglAXPM7C7Xy9nBevpnmRi6XNlT0HC4A1XtAhk0eBcLWnXJWJNFEk3RBFGw7h07ihiXfl6pt/s320/039.JPG" /> My birthday bakers, Kylie and Sarah. It's been rough. Last night I had the WORST headache! Thank goodness for my friend Linds who is staying with me right now. She was super nice, even though my behavior didn't warrant it, and got me some Tylenol. So, I went to bed with a gnarly headache and woke up with a little one that has tried to stick around today, but I am finally starting to feel better!<br /><br />Now, several friends have asked....what constitutes a "Diet Coke"? What size? What about refills? What about rum and Diets? All good questions....<br /><br />I've decided to have 30 "Diet Coke Experiences".......so this means that if I order a Route 44 at Sonic, that counts as one. If I go to a restaurant and have 37 refills, that counts as one. I think I am counting rum and Diets in "the count", but I don't drink them but maybe a few times a year, so that's not really the main problem. Some of you might be saying, that's not so bad! She will have refills or big sodas at the Kwikshop and she'll be fine! But it is a big change for me, as I usually would do all of these things without much though.<br /><br />The reason I've had to get strict with myself is because I've gotten in the habit of having one in the morning, as my morning caffeine, and that would potentially be an okay thing, but then later in the day I'll have something for lunch and/or dinner and think, "A Diet Coke would be perfect with this." So.....just really need to get away from the habitual drinking of it...some side benefits mean that I'll be drinking more water and also, some foods don't sound good to me without a pop, such as Mexican, pizza or cheeseburgers, so maybe I'll eat less of those sorts of foods. And if you glance at that list, none of those above listed really would be declared as health foods.<br /><br />I would like to say I'll get to the point of not even liking it or wanting it, but I think any step toward a positive direction, is good! I'll keep you all posted on this riveting topic. :):)http://www.blogger.com/profile/08052740939805411673noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-367201889881347709.post-84585627017304008842012-01-01T19:51:00.012-06:002012-01-01T20:10:35.591-06:002.0.1.2.My main vice in life is Diet Coke. I've made a conscious effort (without always suceeding) lately to drink less of it. A couple years ago, I gave it up for Lent. However, I've slowly got it back in my day-to-day habit and routine. Bottom line is that its no good for me and I initially thought about cutting it out completely, but I think that is a set-up for failure and too extreme for me.<br /><br /><br /><div>Sooooooo, since I'll be turning 30, I'm going to have 30 Diet Cokes/pops/sodas in 2012. I made myself a little sign to put inside the cupboard to help me keep track. I also cut little numbered tabs at the bottom of the sign that I can tear off when I have one. Cheers to whatever goals/resolutions you make for yourself this year! I look forward to finding out what 2012 will bring.</div><br /><br /><br /><div></div><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 221px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5692850113493006626" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjwnstTEw2MOpqjrnHmNKbLKzN8Mvil8TXLvqqoGumhqVahA-jUoA4S2ePTnAnwhVQt5Fg3mJIyfn6ZDnB3zVZ_6BVOp2AkLJD_SL9vbXqL7uIVVisAM3hY13Rogh9FXEshXIshchC8c6DT/s320/075.JPG" />:)http://www.blogger.com/profile/08052740939805411673noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-367201889881347709.post-2988636192996964002012-01-01T19:12:00.008-06:002012-01-01T19:37:18.791-06:00A Look Back at 2011's Resolutions...<a name="720323363875985996"></a>So, this is what I posted last January....my resolutions for 2011. And here are the outcomes...<br /><br /><a href="http://michellesmoment.blogspot.com/2011/01/resolutions-for-2011.html">Resolutions for 2011</a><br />1. I will remember to take my reusable bags into Dillons. I am chronically a failure when it comes to this. I will do better.<br />***I did better with this. Not as well as I would have liked, but better. I had to call this off when a friend started knitting with plastic bags. Hard to explain, but I got them for her.<br /><br />2. Complain less. Be thankful more. Pray more.<br />***Definitely more prayers this year and of all things, 2011 showed me how much I have to be thankful for.<br /><br />3. Keep my checkbook more balanced-ish. Used to be SO good at this but haven't been so good since vacation this fall. Should be an easy fix. Should be.<br />***Um, fail.<br /><br />4. Be kinder to my parents and sister. Might be hard to believe, but I can be perfectly, downright unpleasant. It's true. And in my world, I'm the harshest with those I love the most.<br />***Depends on the day, but I would say all in all, a better year. It was a rough year that I think ultimately brought my family closer together.<br /><br />5. Find a local church that I am excited about and get involved!<br />***I got more excited about a local church and have attended there more regularly, but haven't gotten involved outside of going to services.<br /><br />6. Keep my office/craft room more organized. (It's somewhat my "Monica's closet" for you Friends fans.)<br />***Major headway in this department. It's been a work in progress.<br /><br />7. Read more. Watch less TV.<br />***Bit of a setback with this one. When my friend Lindsay moved in, I got into watching "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" and have watched a bit obsessively. Hoping to start a book club or exchange this year, so maybe I'll do better.<br /><br />8. Less multi-tasking. More focusing on a single task wholeheartedly.<br />***I'm still completely horrible with this. I usually do five things at once and think about 15 things at once.<br /><br />9. Run in an official 5K race.<br />***Didn't get this done, but race about 5 miles in a relay race in April. It's definitely going on the list of plans for 2012.<br /><br />10. Find a volunteer mission I'm passionate about....suggestions welcome.<br />***Epic fail. I still want to do this.<br /><br />So, looking back at 2011, there was room for improvement as far as these resolutions go, but I feel like I'm not definced by this little list and overall, 2011 made me a better person and made me want to keep improving....what more can any of us ask for?:)http://www.blogger.com/profile/08052740939805411673noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-367201889881347709.post-55854794122032529032011-12-07T14:52:00.030-06:002012-01-01T20:10:05.921-06:00Pinterest = ObsessedOnce again, I have been failing miserably with keeping my blog updated. Boo! Yes, I have been busy this fall with trips and going to football games I have a new obsession I can blame....<br /><br /><div><br /><div><br /><div><br /><div><br /><div><br /><div><br /><div></div><br /><div>Like so many of you, I spent an unthinkably large number of hours and minutes each day looking at the cyber world of <a href="http://pinterest.com/">Pinterest</a>. I frequently "pin" items that I haven't gotten around to making/trying/etc, but when my sister was home over Thanksgiving weekend, we helped my parents decorate their tree and house for Christmas and while we did, we made several recipes I had found on Pinterest, so I wanted to share the results. I have seen a few friends sharing on their blogs some Pinterest successes. I wish there was a way to mark on Pinterest that you have completed something!<br /></div><br /><div>Here's my sis decorating the tree....</div><br /><br /><div></div><br /><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjNM1Bar_3TZinuRQINX-efX-8QqQd_dCNTAjX3kxFZLDyLADHvL0b4Bp1484bs8yrX9l9XCVn_2QZm9N5QazL4sRdefAvFwI0NrTxGyzRkMSNB88D0jdLddGIQI0byYWRrEHi7ZAw0cIG7/s1600/102.JPG"><img style="WIDTH: 240px; HEIGHT: 320px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5683535439426353218" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjNM1Bar_3TZinuRQINX-efX-8QqQd_dCNTAjX3kxFZLDyLADHvL0b4Bp1484bs8yrX9l9XCVn_2QZm9N5QazL4sRdefAvFwI0NrTxGyzRkMSNB88D0jdLddGIQI0byYWRrEHi7ZAw0cIG7/s320/102.JPG" /></a><br /></div><br /><br /><div>And here's the mantle...<br /></div><br /><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhmiW8bK9-U7zai8f041miUJ8jNNmTeCUQPEv5GvQe0S8C8r92-F_m97bYSOm_uXa06Y3G8NK0m1UDLl7qBtnPC-Zd9hhttsxb9RZa0M_Iq6-DAYadF6NpklrNwpch8WyFJicmXTovm2Uom/s1600/103.JPG"><img style="WIDTH: 320px; HEIGHT: 240px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5683535064170019746" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhmiW8bK9-U7zai8f041miUJ8jNNmTeCUQPEv5GvQe0S8C8r92-F_m97bYSOm_uXa06Y3G8NK0m1UDLl7qBtnPC-Zd9hhttsxb9RZa0M_Iq6-DAYadF6NpklrNwpch8WyFJicmXTovm2Uom/s320/103.JPG" /></a></div><br /><br /><div><br /></div><br /><div>Here's what we made that day....</div><br /><br /><div>1. <a href="http://www.justgetoffyourbuttandbake.com/?p=932">Homemade Pretzel Bites</a></div><br /><br /><div><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgshRyae0swEvsFFoAx1fr-ZyxLF7llWM7AO3kyDLkVGD-U4ipf366MVWCsvP4Y6ZGYfakfk0zxoWw8DoKL3vyYcWJYKbLQ_7GkcRGkxk81lkfB7cGDRwGay0Otg5_GLxshroF17Is-6nct/s1600/095.JPG"><img style="WIDTH: 320px; HEIGHT: 240px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5683534352531901186" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgshRyae0swEvsFFoAx1fr-ZyxLF7llWM7AO3kyDLkVGD-U4ipf366MVWCsvP4Y6ZGYfakfk0zxoWw8DoKL3vyYcWJYKbLQ_7GkcRGkxk81lkfB7cGDRwGay0Otg5_GLxshroF17Is-6nct/s320/095.JPG" /></a><br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh5mSUJeSUKWiZzPzblWgy_GToFjOyCXwo7IFciTNAcexfdJASjF6KHOI_bfpW9RPgLUJvxnJl0cWtiTlMX8q5zokZPS-Ey99SxJmrSLKoUtn5bCri_ZjsZnf5QhM4sCavqdzVUJsyrR6-Q/s1600/094.JPG"><img style="WIDTH: 320px; HEIGHT: 240px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5683533655832610226" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh5mSUJeSUKWiZzPzblWgy_GToFjOyCXwo7IFciTNAcexfdJASjF6KHOI_bfpW9RPgLUJvxnJl0cWtiTlMX8q5zokZPS-Ey99SxJmrSLKoUtn5bCri_ZjsZnf5QhM4sCavqdzVUJsyrR6-Q/s320/094.JPG" /></a><br /><br /></div><br /><br /><div>Verdict- We didn't loooooove them, but I would probably make them again; especially since I have more Rhodes Rolls in the freezer. We all liked the cinnamon and sugar ones better than the parmesan, but I expected it to be the other way around. The sweet sauce was okay but the cheese sauce was pretty gross. I would make these again and they are relatively low-calorie, which is always a bonus. My overall score = 7.<br /></div><br /><br /><div>Other recent Pinterest experiments.....</div><br /><br /><div><br /></div><br /><br /><div>My mom hosted bunko in November so I made just a couple sweet things for her to have there. I had <a href="http://cookiesandcups.com/pretzel-hugs/">these </a>at my bunko group in November, and <a href="http://pinterest.com/pin/252060910363938020/">acorns </a>too, which were apparently a big hit. Fyi, the cookie gets soggy after a few days. </div><br /><br /><div>I made a wreath I found on Pinterest for a decoration this fall. It was fairly easy, just more time consuming than I realized it would be. And, it was cheap...yea! I bought a $3 wreath at Michaels and then used scraps of fabric that I had at home. I forgot to take a picture of it and apparently didn't pin it to my board, but it turned out pretty cute. </div><br /><br /><div>Last week, I made these <a href="http://www.thesaltypineapple.com/2011/08/i-love-food.html">Homemade Butterfingers</a> to take to work and people liked them. I wasn't wild about them for how much labor was involved and I'm pretty sure I didn't get the candy corn melted enough. They had the flavor of butterfingers, but the texture of a Baby Ruth.<br /><br />Another Pinterest find I recently brought to life was something my friend Sarah shared that she had found on Pinterest and made. It's <a href="http://www.amateurgourmet.com/2008/11/the_best_brocco.html">roasted broccoli</a>, which I have heard of doing before this, but never actually got around to doing. I left out the pine nuts and squeezed too much lemon juice on after, but I'll definitely make this again. Love how fresh it is!</div><br /><br /><div>Okay, that's all I can think of right now to share, but am loving trying some new things! Have anyone found anything on Pinterest that they are wild about?! </div></div></div></div></div></div></div>:)http://www.blogger.com/profile/08052740939805411673noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-367201889881347709.post-23879756288759464852011-09-28T19:01:00.005-05:002012-03-25T18:03:08.314-05:00Well, hello...It has been "awhile". I have been the worst blogger EVER! Some of you have dutifully posted about a variety of topics, including babies, recipes, vacations and all sorts of lovely bloggy topics. Um, so much has happened since my last post in July. So, in the name of efficiency, here's a brief run-down:<br />
<br />
<br />
<ul><li>In August, I went on a road trip by myself to see my sis in Dallas, stopping in Wichita on the way and Oklahoma City on the way back to see friends. I got to see my new sister's apartment, lounge at her pool, and eat some great food. It was fantastic. :)</li>
<li>My mom retired a couple weeks ago. Hooray! We had cake and cheered her career. She is beginning her journey of no alarm clocks and wearing sweat pants all day long if she chooses. I'M JEALOUS!</li>
<li>K-State football is back in action...the third game of the season is this weekend and I'm loving it!</li>
</ul><br />
Regarding my lack of posts, I have to confess I have a new LOVE....one that many of you have discovered as well and actually encouraged me to check out: Pinterest. Ah, I have to limit myself how much I'm on it because it's easy to get sucked in and hours to fly out! If I actually get it together and actually do any crafts or make any recipes from there, I'll be sure to share. <br />
<br />
I'm really loving fall so far after a super toasty summer! Hope you all are too. Looking forward to taco soup, apple crisp and all things pumpkin!!:)http://www.blogger.com/profile/08052740939805411673noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-367201889881347709.post-41747766024664669822011-07-25T20:05:00.003-05:002011-07-25T20:17:40.049-05:00Things have to get better, right?It seems like the last week and a half has been nothing but bad news around my work. One of the doctors I work with died in a kayaking accident, one of my coworkers lost her dad, a coworker had a friend get shot and killed, another coworker found out her daughter with MS has breast cancer, a coworker's dog died this weekend and another coworker's son has a brain tumor and needs chemo. Seriously?! It has just been one thing after another and really awful to see people go through so much sadness. It has also made me (and all of us) appreciative for all the good we have in our lives. I keep thinking things are going to turn around, because they have to....history has shown that they do. I'm hoping someone wins the lottery. :) Fingers crossed for some good luck heading for my friends and coworkers.:)http://www.blogger.com/profile/08052740939805411673noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-367201889881347709.post-70993360710696390082011-07-05T12:17:00.010-05:002011-07-05T12:39:24.248-05:00Happy 4th!<p align="left">Hope everyone had a great 4th of July weekend! Besides working Saturday and on the holiday, I can't complain. And honestly, I can't complain at all. I took a long lunch yesterday to go to my neighborhood's parade, which I love. This is the third year I have went and really think it's super sweet. Gotta love long-standing traditions and this parade has been around a lot longer than I have. Also, when I went into the hospital yesterday, one of my patients, who had a stroke yesterday morning, said, "Thank you so much for coming to work to help me on the holiday. Who has a stroke on the 4th of July? I am supposed to be at a bbq." She was super sweet and full of life. She is an 88-year-old that drives 30 miles 3 times a week for yoga, so clearly a motivated spirit. </p>Anyway, my sis is here from Texas and we've had lots of family time! And LOTS of good food! My cousin made some homemade vanilla ice cream, which was awesome and seems so appropriate for summer. Here are a few pictures. So, for now, it was at my house to use until the time came when Sarah wanted it back....problem was that it needed to be recushioned and recovered. As of tonight, problem solved! A couple months ago, I bought some fabric to recover the chair, but I was lacking the skills on how to do it. I have another rocking chair that's going to be recovered with the same fabric. It's fun how a little change can give a room a whole different feel. Here are a few before and after pictures: <br /><div><br /><div><br /><div><br /><div><br /></div><br /><div>Before-</div><br /><p align="center"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgwYcWRkCZhScrRLS37dPHGH4iGsPDAqlUdUaYS1nFC30BpIkRmW2Sk8Gc9oCWdh9iyMiuW6MFvKikHZ1wsGvsVWxkc-1kpEVB70qpIs30v4qI8AVY7OUgcD3kDIH1Xe12xLU6InaKKoCE6/s1600/026.JPG"><img style="WIDTH: 240px; HEIGHT: 320px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5620870680761348402" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgwYcWRkCZhScrRLS37dPHGH4iGsPDAqlUdUaYS1nFC30BpIkRmW2Sk8Gc9oCWdh9iyMiuW6MFvKikHZ1wsGvsVWxkc-1kpEVB70qpIs30v4qI8AVY7OUgcD3kDIH1Xe12xLU6InaKKoCE6/s320/026.JPG" /></a></p><br /><p align="center"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgwptn7GSd0_EmCAh_s9yeignHoq_GJC3LqWgnlp8R6gPY9LHts_ZKCGfgeR9crZSdpxw4DS40eh2e1yBLHqF8oUvpH0DgkMGtWxpMN5Ol-yd7DXVurC_chZo98ayMLcf8EEAgEpu2K5ITx/s1600/028.JPG"><img style="WIDTH: 320px; HEIGHT: 240px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5620870410455758802" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgwptn7GSd0_EmCAh_s9yeignHoq_GJC3LqWgnlp8R6gPY9LHts_ZKCGfgeR9crZSdpxw4DS40eh2e1yBLHqF8oUvpH0DgkMGtWxpMN5Ol-yd7DXVurC_chZo98ayMLcf8EEAgEpu2K5ITx/s320/028.JPG" /></a></p><br /><p align="center"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj-dmL5y7-CAFRPlJl2dRP974DDsYXgyFKVx9ZXk7oK2NMdZDxNP2q2RgIDhoGyvcweE01XnSdvYQd350b4XELccLmdG7NwXMcWagmyhMSvhFc4pBVqoGCmjgTERXUPKAYpePfk9pQS4IPv/s1600/030.JPG"><img style="WIDTH: 320px; HEIGHT: 240px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5620869841367676546" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj-dmL5y7-CAFRPlJl2dRP974DDsYXgyFKVx9ZXk7oK2NMdZDxNP2q2RgIDhoGyvcweE01XnSdvYQd350b4XELccLmdG7NwXMcWagmyhMSvhFc4pBVqoGCmjgTERXUPKAYpePfk9pQS4IPv/s320/030.JPG" /></a><br /></p><br /><p align="center"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhzPr0X7wFaHSZCCt29BX2l0mEf4F_PxJuDxGeelmP4oMGXRgr4CvGjSGb44Rbs3bRn16NJKVFt2_BnHLNMOAWL2wf7qUMDHJ88vaXxf3vLQg_4TQ0O8wXrFoyesFTyo_4YFavoWnTtpBA6/s1600/031.JPG"><img style="WIDTH: 240px; HEIGHT: 320px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5620869102183706946" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhzPr0X7wFaHSZCCt29BX2l0mEf4F_PxJuDxGeelmP4oMGXRgr4CvGjSGb44Rbs3bRn16NJKVFt2_BnHLNMOAWL2wf7qUMDHJ88vaXxf3vLQg_4TQ0O8wXrFoyesFTyo_4YFavoWnTtpBA6/s320/031.JPG" /></a></p><br /><div><br /></div><br /><div>After-</div><br /><p align="center"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiynp8FhgRhTUI-MsEJjGMcQm-mhL7ha78EXQoOgdIOnEtzyfi4hPiQLF7UyZeTVkGgdZ1ivXJ0jOCZtd8i6XZqpQu90rDfNCUKsH2emnagEkHBcukqnQ9QoJTM9XofuXiMScmynb4HPR1U/s1600/018.JPG"><img style="WIDTH: 240px; HEIGHT: 320px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5620868664002154562" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiynp8FhgRhTUI-MsEJjGMcQm-mhL7ha78EXQoOgdIOnEtzyfi4hPiQLF7UyZeTVkGgdZ1ivXJ0jOCZtd8i6XZqpQu90rDfNCUKsH2emnagEkHBcukqnQ9QoJTM9XofuXiMScmynb4HPR1U/s320/018.JPG" /></a></p><br /><br /><p align="center"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgDv8IYo3cSGyE2-4Q1-q8bXJDepejyov-7KmJnbgV_PRyz52iu5PDOJx7l1KEIzgbt5sfdEXOUu4Ua4I1hvWaZLNYAc3V-xtIEcztNzHfPoCexB4SKD5G3V1QSGa-JSlKn3rsEAzr5dnW0/s1600/019.JPG"><img style="WIDTH: 240px; HEIGHT: 320px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5620867349195393506" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgDv8IYo3cSGyE2-4Q1-q8bXJDepejyov-7KmJnbgV_PRyz52iu5PDOJx7l1KEIzgbt5sfdEXOUu4Ua4I1hvWaZLNYAc3V-xtIEcztNzHfPoCexB4SKD5G3V1QSGa-JSlKn3rsEAzr5dnW0/s320/019.JPG" /></a></p></div></div></div>:)http://www.blogger.com/profile/08052740939805411673noreply@blogger.com2
